Resetting a forgotten password

Ask for a reset link from the sign-in page; it lasts thirty minutes, works once, and still asks for your second step if the account has one.

Use Forgotten password? on the sign-in page at my.quavern.com. Give the address on the account, and a link to choose a new password is sent to it.

What happens

  • The answer is the same whether or not the address has an account. The page says "if that address has an account, a link is on its way" and nothing more. That is deliberate: it is how an account's existence stays private.

  • The link lasts thirty minutes and works once.

  • The mail says what happened, who asked — the country the request came from, not the address — how long the link lasts, and what to do if it was not you.

The second step is not bypassed

If the account has a second step, the reset asks for it too: an authenticator code, a recovery code, a code by SMS under its own rules, or a passkey. A mailbox on its own is never enough, otherwise taking over the mailbox would be taking over the account.

What a successful reset changes

  • Every session and every refresh token on the account is ended. Sign in again afterwards with the new password.

  • Your e-mail address is marked verified, because following the link proved you read that mailbox.

  • Nothing else moves. The address itself is unchanged, and your authenticator app, passkeys and telephone number are untouched.

If nothing arrives

Check the address you typed, and ask again — the request is rate-limited per address and per IP, so wait if you are told to. If the link in the mail does not work, the mail programme may have broken it; ask for a new one and open it within thirty minutes.

If you have lost the second step as well

Use a recovery code. If those are gone too, write to [email protected] with the account address, what factors you had, and the support code shown. There is no route that skips the second step.
